FIFA WC MOTMS - 94 NEYMAR, 87 WILLIAN, 84 CHADLI, OP INUI

Monday’s Round of 16 matches saw Mexico’s Cinderella run end at the hands of Brazil, and an incredible effort from Japan cancelled out by a Belgian comeback for the ages. Barcelona’s Neymar and Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino got on the scoresheet as the Seleção blanked El Tri two goals to nil. Meanwhile, Japan took a 2-0 lead with back-to-back goals shortly after halftime, but a three-goal rally, finished off Nacer Chadli in the 94th minute, sent the Samurai Blue home.
Neymar began the scoring six minutes into the second half, while a staunch Brazilian defense, historically uncharacteristic of past national teams, held the Mexican attack scoreless. Mexican keeper Guillermo Ochoa tried his best to stave off the high-octane Brazilian offense, making eight saves in the process. Willian recorded two shots on target and made three key passes en route to an all-around performance. Neymar jumps from 93 to 94 overall in FUT World Cup while WIllian goes from 85 up to 87.
West Brom’s Chadli was the hero at Rostov Arena, as his goal in the 94th minute completed a three-goal comeback for the Red Devils. Japan came out at a blistering pace in the second half, scoring back-to-back goals four minutes apart. Genki Haraguchi finished off a beautiful counter-attack with a quick shimmy and pasted the ball into the bottom left corner in the 48th minute, and Takashi Inui’s outside-the-box tally doubled Japan’s advantage in the 52nd.
But Belgium would respond. Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen began the comeback with a header from an almost impossible angle in the 69th minute, and five minutes later, Eden Hazard shook his defender to send in a swerving cross that met the head of Maroune Fellaini for the tie.
Chadli jumps five overall, from 79 up to 84, while Inui now has bonkers looking stats — 98 aceleration, 99 agility, 99 balance, and 96 dribbling — and an 86 overall rating after previously being updated from 78 to 82.
The four items will be dynamically updated in FIFA 18′s World Cup mode. The rest of the World Cup ‘Man of the Match’ items follow below, and if you’re looking to stay updated on every new player in the mode (or FUT 18, otherwise), the database can be found here.
